The raised sole is particularly suitable for keeping the foot isolated from the ground and is at the same time extremely flexible. The foot rests on a warm plantar that can be pulled out for greater hygiene. The GORE-TEX membrane is an extremely thin layer of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) that has more than 1.4 billion pores per square centimeter. It is attached to an outer fabric and, in many cases, to an inner lining. It is waterproof and windproof, yet breathable.
