The anatomical insole is removable and covered in leather to ensure breathability and hygiene. The GORE-TEX membrane is an extremely thin layer of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) that has more than 1.4 billion pores per square centimeter. It is attached to an outer fabric and, in many cases, to an inner lining. It is waterproof and windproof, yet breathable.
